Planning & Prioritizing

Program Description:

Half-Day: Participants learn the importance of planning and prioritizing work and the benefits of developing and following a prioritized work plan. Participants also will relate real life planning experiences to planning work in a business environment. Participants learn to envision the outcome/deliverables of a project or initiative by using the concept of first creation. Participants also learn how to use organizational inputs that may provide insights or a basis for defining the outcome. Based on defining the outcomes or deliverables, participants learn to define the specific, verb-driven actions needed to achieve the outcome or produce the deliverable(s). Participants learn how to consolidate actions steps by combining related or like items or eliminating duplication.

Participants Discover:

  • Where to go within an organization to obtain inputs and information to help them plan projects successfully
  • How to create verb-driven work plans that guide the work of project teams
  • The importance of assigning time values to work steps and in establishing a critical path

Business Impact:

  • Projects and initiatives that are more likely to finish on time and on budget
  • Fewer false starts on projects
  • Greater buy-in from key stakeholders on the direction of projects and the definition of deliverables
